Nearly 10 Million People Watched "House Of The Dragon" Even Though Fans Weren't Thrilled With How "Game Of Thrones" Ended - newsavui.
The Games of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon debuted on Sunday night to the largest audience for a brand-new HBO original series ever—nearly 10 million viewers.
Even though the Game of Thrones series finale left many unhappy fans, people nevertheless went to social media to talk about the forthcoming season. According to a news release from HBO, House of the Dragon was the top trending topic on Google Trends on Sunday and trended on Twitter for 14 hours. Naturally, additional viewers will keep watching the program on HBO Max in the days to come.
Because each episode of House of the Dragon costs between $15 million and $20 million to produce, there was a lot to live up to. A lot depends on the success of the program because HBO Max has been removing episodes and movies from its streaming platform over the past several weeks in order to be ready to join with Discovery+ next summer. A few months after the Game of Thrones season finale in May 2019, HBO commissioned House of the Dragon as a series, and early 2020 saw the start of scripting.
House of the Dragon recounts the beginning of House Targaryen's demise and takes place 200 years before Game of Thrones. It will demonstrate the events that preceded the Targaryen war of succession, popularly known as the Dance of the Dragons, which were alluded to in Game of Thrones when characters talked about the past of their realm.
"Last night was fantastic as we welcomed millions of Game of Thrones fans back to Westeros, "HBO and HBO Max's chief content officer, Casey Bloys, stated in a press statement. "The actors and crew of House of the Dragon are tremendously skilled and gave their all to the project. We are overjoyed by the great feedback from fans. We are eager to reveal to viewers what else [George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik, the showrunners] have in store for them this season.
