On Saturday, Romanian officials raided a compound outside of Bucharest and removed a series of vehicles worth $3.9 million that belonged to sexist influencer Andrew Tate.
In conjunction with an organized crime, human trafficking, and rape investigation, Tate, his brother Tristan Tate, and two Romanian women were all detained on December 29 in Bucharest. According to Romanian media, they are accused of kidnapping young women and using them as props in sexually graphic recordings that would then be sold on websites like OnlyFans.
The 36-year-old self-described "success coach" got into a Twitter spat with the 20-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg on the emissions of his 33 high-end vehicles the day before he was arrested.
The National Agency for the Administration of Unavailable Assets in Romania said on Saturday that it had confiscated 15 high-end vehicles, including a blue Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari, a Porsche, a BMW, an Aston Martin, and a Mercedes-Benz. On Saturday, journalists in Romania took pictures and videos of them being put onto trucks and taken away.
The DIICOT, Romania's anti-organized crime agency, had reported further vehicle and property seizures.
Authorities also confiscated 14 expensive watches and cash in many different currencies as part of the seizures reported on Saturday.
According to a DIICOT representative who spoke to the Associated Press, confiscated property may be sold at auction with the earnings going toward victim restitution and investigative costs if investigators discover that Tate and his brother made money via illegal means.
A court upheld a 30-day detention order for Tate and his brother last Monday, citing the chance that they would try to leave the country while the inquiry is ongoing.
